There are almost as many candidates in the congregational elections in Lahti as in the elections four years ago.

There are now 166 candidates, compared to one more in the previous elections. The candidates come from six constituency associations with political parties, revivalist movements and equality movements.

The increase in the number of candidates is mainly in Nastola. 29 candidates from Nastola are seeking a seat on the parish council, one third more than in the last parish elections.

Most of the candidates aspire to both the council of their parish and the joint church council of Lahti parishes. There are 14–16 positions of trust in councils and 51 in church councils.

Early voting for the parish elections is from 8 to 12. November and the actual election day is November 20.
