The international women’s organization Ladies’ Circle International LCI will hold its annual meeting in Lahti until August 21. About 450 guests from more than 30 countries will participate in the four-day event. The women’s organization has almost 13,000 members in more than 40 countries internationally.

The last time the annual meeting was organized in Finland was in 2002 in Oulu. The event was supposed to be held in Lahti already in 2020, but it was canceled due to the corona virus.

The program includes, among other things, a parade with national costumes – or outfits typical of different countries –, the annual meeting itself at Sibelius Hall, and house parties held in the homes of local members. The event culminates with a gala dinner on Saturday, August 20 at restaurant Werstaa.

The international organization, which has operated in Finland since 1960, is politically and religiously non-committal. The members are women under 45 and call each other sisters.

The roots of the Ladies’ Circle International organization go back to England in the 1930s, where it was decided to establish a sister organization to the international Round Table organization for young men.
