A higher-than-average flood is predicted for the Northeast region – visible already at the turn of the week

In the Iijoki watershed, Jongunjärvi water can flood the road, and in Pudasjärvi, the water level can threaten leisure apartments. Oulankajoki will flood at the beginning of next week. The Karhunkierros hiking route may be interrupted.

It seems that there will be higher than average floods in Northeast Finland, according to the website Vesi.fi, which follows the flood situation. The water levels of rivers and lakes are now starting to rise in Kainuu and Lapland, in addition to Northeast Finland.

In the Iijoki watershed, the flood peak is predicted for the end of the week, when the water from Jongunjärvi can flood the road, and the water level in Pudasjärvi can threaten leisure apartments. According to the forecast, water in the Oulankajoki will cut off the Karhunkierros hiking trail at the end of the week, the flood peak there will be at the beginning of next week.

The predicted flood peaks of Kuivajoki and Simojoki for this week are about to remain of average size. In the Oulujoki watershed, the smallest natural lakes rise to higher than usual flood peaks at the end of the week.
