Nurmijärvi spread Käärijä-themed image manipulation on social media – \”We didn’t have time to make a physical Käärijä coat of arms\”

A woman is standing in front of a brick wall. There is a coat of arms on the wall.
Nurmijärvi published a photo manipulation in which the seven brothers of the municipality’s coat of arms have received the Käärijä pottukka.

Nurmijärvi wants to wish Käärijä good luck in the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest.

The Käärijä coat of arms has been added to the photo with the help of image processing, and the municipality’s real coat of arms is still on the wall of the municipal office.

Municipal manager Outi Mäkelä says that the decision to use image manipulation was made for scheduling reasons.

– We didn’t have time to order a real new coat of arms on the wall of the municipal hall, so an image manipulation was done.

The mayor still does not dare to promise whether the municipality will make a real physical Käärijä coat of arms if the victory comes to Finland.

Nurmijärvi uses a coat of arms with a bolero green background on its social media channels and website for five weeks. In this way, the municipality wants to encourage an artist from neighboring Vantaa.

The municipal leader himself now wears Käärijä’s green hoodie and sings the *Cha Cha cha* song to victory.

At least Helsingin Sanomat has reported on the matter today. The media did not tell when the picture was published that it was manipulation.
