In the coming summer, there is a need for around 500 summer substitutes in the care sector. Some of the recruitments go to the last drop.
The labor shortage has brought challenges to the welfare region of Päijät-Häme, including hiring summer substitutes.
Alongside the general application, Duunitor has opened a resume-free model for students in the field, with the aim of increasing the number of applications and making it easier to find a summer job.
In addition to those who have already studied the field, the welfare area offers summer jobs, i.e. familiarization with working life, to a couple of hundred young people aged 14–17. According to Saari, more than a thousand applications were received for these positions.
Shortage of hundreds of permanent nurses
The Päijät-Häme welfare area has a labor shortage of a few hundred permanent caregivers.
The region has hired a total of nearly a hundred nurses from the Philippines. They study in apprenticeship training to become community nurses, but can work as a care assistant in Finland. The second batch of about forty Filipino nurses came to Päijät-Hämee a couple of weeks ago.
– We have to figure out the next steps for international recruitment, says Human Resources Director Erja Saari.
According to Saari, it must be investigated whether nurses can be hired from somewhere other than the Philippines, i.e. Finland, which is closer.
The welfare area also uses hired labor. For placements of less than three months, cooperation is done with Sarastia Rekry oy.
