Lahti to host the World Ski Championships again? – The Finnish Ski Federation was the only one to submit a competition application

The board of the International Ski Federation (FIS) will make a decision on the World Cup host in May 2024.

The Finnish Ski Federation has submitted an official application to organize the World Ski Championships in Lahti in 2029. The Finns’ application was the only one submitted to the FIS by the deadline.

The ski association must submit the actual application documents by the beginning of August.

In its application, the Ski Federation promises that it will present to the FIS, together with the city of Lahti and the Lahti Ski Club, a World Cup concept that enables the organization of a major winter sports event in an economically, environmentally and socially responsible manner.

– Our reputation as a competition organizer is highly respected worldwide. Our proactive action has now led to a good situation, when no other countries stood alongside our strong candidacy,

The last time the World Championships were held in Lahti in 2017. The board of the International Ski Federation will decide on the World Championships host in May 2024.
