The Finnish film Sisu collected 1.4 million dollars at the box office at its premiere in the United States – the fifth highest in the country

Only four films opened in US theaters last Friday.

The film collected a total of $1.4 million in box office receipts in US theaters on Friday, according to the film’s PR office and Box Office Mojo, a US box office listing website.

In Box Office Mojo’s listing, the box office receipts collected by Sisu were the fifth largest of Friday’s film screenings.

On Friday, box office magnet *Super Mario Bros movie*, *Evil Dead Rise*, *Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret* and *Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi*, which is currently in theaters again.

*Sisu* was filmed in Lapland. In Finland, the film gathered 27,594 viewers on its opening weekend in January. Last year, no domestic film reached the same opening weekend.

The film broke the barrier of one hundred thousand viewers in about a month.

*Sisu* has received good reviews in international film industry publications and the film aroused interest in the US even before its premiere.
