The search for a tenant has not yielded results yet. Next summer, the port’s operations will be run with the old arrangements.
– The municipality maintains the harbor and Classimo Oy was the operator of the guest boat harbor, as it has been for at least the last 10 years, says Kaulio.
Pyhtää municipality announced last year that it was looking for a tenant for the land area of \u200b\u200bKaunissaari harbor with a 30-year contract. The contract would also include the water area and docks.
According to the municipality, a long contract would enable the far-reaching development of business and tourism services in the area. However, no offer to become the operator and investor of Kaunissaari harbor was received.
More than 20 interested parties
More than twenty entities interested in renting visited the municipality’s request for tender. According to technical director Janne Kaulio, negotiations to find a joint partner are still continuing. The target is currently to start operations with a new tenant in the summer of 2024.
In the lease agreement, the tenant would undertake, among other things, to build the new buildings needed by the port area in accordance with the site plan, building order and building drawings approved by the municipality, in which case they would complement the current milieu of the archipelago village.
According to technical director Janne Kaulio, the aim is still to find one main tenant.
The war in Ukraine spooked the previous investor
The municipality of Pyhtää has been looking for a partner in Kaunissaari for years. One investor pulled out after Russia launched a war of aggression against Ukraine.
Kaunissaari is a popular summer excursion destination located in the outer archipelago of Pyhtäki, where you can find, for example, an art gallery, a cafe, a shop and restaurants.
Connecting ships operate to Kaunissaari from Kotka Kuusinen harbour.
