The theme for the Hiekkalinna summer 2023 is fairy tales. Sand sculptures will be made starting in May.
Lappeenranta’s Sandcastle will celebrate its centenary in the summer of 2023. The castle will celebrate its 20th anniversary.
This year, the theme of the castle is fairy tales. Sculptures for the castle will depict scenes and characters from classic fairy tales, such as *The Three Little Pigs* and *Jacques and the Beanstalk*. One of the sculptures is a fairy tale castle.
The sculptures will start on 20 May. According to the city’s press release, most of the sculptors are Finnish.
The opening of Hiekkalinna will be celebrated in Lappeenranta harbor on June 3.
