The work, which will continue until autumn, will also improve pedestrian access and lighting.

The renovation of the Vuorikatu roof in the centre of Lahti has started today.

First, the old district heating pipes will be dug up and replaced. The excavation work will last until next week.

This will be followed by, among other things, new coatings, improved paving, the electricity network and lighting.

During the months-long renovation works, Vuorikatu will be partially one-way or the street will be temporarily blocked.

During the construction site, it is recommended to use either Hämeenkatu or Harjukatu.

It won’t be fully ready until next fall.
