In 2024, 200 000 euros have been earmarked for ideas for residents in Lahti. Ideas related to hobbies and doing things together received a lot of support.

The City of Lahti’s participatory budgeting process has received almost a thousand ideas from residents for the development of the city.

Popular development ideas included improving the attractiveness of the city centre and market square, and developing the Mukkula shopping centre. There was also support for dog parks, frisbee rinks, outdoor sports facilities and places for young people to hang out.

Lahti has earmarked a budget of €200 000 for next year’s ideas for residents. The amount will be split evenly between the northern, southern, eastern and central areas, as well as ideas for the city as a whole.

The development ideas collected during the beginning of the year are currently being evaluated by the city’s experts. All ideas and evaluations will be published on Monday, April 17, on the city’s website.

After the evaluation, some of the ideas will be developed in workshops open to everyone on April 28 online and on May 3 at Palvetor. The people of Lahti will get to vote on the final proposals in May-June.
