SoulFun is an exceptionally large rhythm music ensemble in Kainuu.

SoulFun’s big concert is today in Paltamo. In the past, an orchestra of no less than 18 members has performed in Hyrynsalmi, Ristijärvi and Suomussalmi.

SoulFun, which is touring all Kainuu municipalities, will give a concert today, Thursday, for children and young people in the Korpisal of Paltamo’s Korpitie school.

– The goal of the concerts is to introduce school children to the world of rhythm music and to make visible how rhythm music, especially soul music, can be entertaining and current. Artistry, high culture and entertainment are not mutually exclusive.

So far, the orchestra has given concerts in Hyrynsalmi, Ristijärvi and Suomussalmi. Along with Harju, the attitude of the children and young people to the concert has been really enthusiastic and positive.

The SoulFun working group has received top project funding from the Kainuu fund of the Finnish Cultural Fund for the realization of the concerts. The main goal is to take rhythm music to remote areas and to arouse the interest of children and young people in the music hobby.
