CEO of the Häme Chamber of Commerce: Labor supply and energy solutions are the central issues of the government negotiations

Jussi Eerikäinen, CEO of the Häme Chamber of Commerce
In the opinion of Jussi Eerikäinen, CEO of the Häme Chamber of Commerce, the most important issues in the upcoming government negotiations are the availability of labor and energy.

According to Jussi Eerikäinen, CEO of the Häme Chamber of Commerce, the additional construction of wind power is also important.

– Even in advance it became clear that these are, as it were, the elections of the big three. This has been the case in history before. Now only the place of Keskusta has been taken by the Basic Finns, says Eerikäinen.

According to him, the financial elections were held in a typical way, which was also reflected in the behavior of the voters.

– In these elections, the concern of working people, families with children and middle-income earners about their own livelihood, interest rates and the cost of living was highlighted, Eerikäinen reflects.

According to the representative of business life in Häme, the most important task of the new government is to alleviate the labor shortage that plagues companies.

– Work-based immigration and its promotion is one of the big issues in the upcoming government negotiations. The birth rate is falling and Finland is getting older, now we have to act, says Eerikäinen.

The availability of labor and energy are key issues that the future government parties must get to fit into the government program in some way in the same spirit.

For example, in Hämee, the voters have spoken about the additional construction of wind power.

– Now there are about 1,500 wind turbines in Finland, and before the elections there was talk of doubling that number. Investing in wind power brings additional capacity, so now, even after the elections, we have to be smart.

– Finland needs cheaply produced energy and enough labor, only ensuring their availability will bring us competitiveness, says Eerikäinen.
