The rescue service has brought a large factory fire under control in Lahti

The fire that broke out on the roof of the production facility produced a lot of smoke.

The Päijät-Häme rescue service was alerted of a large fire at half past three. According to Packalén, the fire department was on the scene very quickly after the alarm at the factory located in the Möysä district.

The personnel got out of the building safely and the visible fire was extinguished after three. The rescue service is still investigating whether the fire has spread to the structures.

– After that, we can examine the damage caused by the fire. Over the course of the evening, it will become clear whether we will be able to continue production in part of the hall. In the morning, we are even wiser when we get to examine the machines, CEO Packalén says.

The rescue service was called to the scene at half past three on Tuesday afternoon. The fire department got the fire under control quickly.

Around 70 people work in three shifts at the factory. Provisions have been made for emergencies.

– If these fire safety issues, sprinklers, alarm systems and personnel training had not been in order, the situation could have been worse, Packalén states.

The CEO hopes that work at the factory could be resumed as soon as possible, because the company’s order book is good, and according to forecasts, it is on track to achieve a record turnover in its history.
