The racing tracks in the bay are made of gun snow and sufficient space is available.
The warming spring weather is unable to disperse the snow from Lahti’s racing streets.
– We are in a confident situation. The racecourses have been made with cannon snow and Lahti is prepared with a large amount of soil, which will be transported to the stadium area as needed,” says Ahokas.
The spring sun is gradually melting and softening the surfaces of the tracks. The threat is naturally greatest on the slopes south of the ski centre.
From Monday to Sunday, however, there will be six freezing nights and that is a very good thing for the race organizers.
– The lack of snow does not threaten the competition program. We have enough snow security to go through Salpauselkä’s race program in the normal way, Ahokas assures.
– Although the weather forecast is monitored, if not hourly now, then at least every two hours, he laughs.
The area of \u200b\u200bthe Lahti sports center is reserved for competition arrangements and construction from Monday morning until Sunday evening.
The stadium is closed to all outside traffic, and skiing in the area by non-competitors is prohibited. The races start on Friday.
