Teboil petrol station lease dispute to be considered by the court

Teboil must remove its assets and clean up the Paavola service station site by the end of March 2023.

The City of Lahti did not want to extend the lease of the petrol station area with the Russian-owned Lukoil.

Teboil has taken the Saimaankatu petrol station lease dispute to the Hämeenlinna Administrative Court.

The company considers the decision of the Lahti City Environment Committee last November not to extend the lease to be in violation of, among other things, the constitution and the principle of equality in administrative law.

The city considers that the contract is a private law contract, so the complaint cannot be based on the principle of equality within the meaning of the Administrative Code.

In the complaint, Teboil also refers to the clause of the lease agreement, according to which it would have had the right to lease the area again. In the city’s opinion, the condition cannot be invoked.

Teboil’s owner, Lukoil, is a Russian-owned company, and the city did not want a lease agreement by continuing to support Russia’s military operations in Ukraine.

The city environmental board will consider the response to the complaint filed with the administrative court on Wednesday, March 22.
