CEO Lauri Pöyhönen points out that the appeal of a play-off team is also reflected in the player market.

This season, the total attendance in the regular season of the ice hockey league was the highest in nine seasons.

Pelicans’ home games were attended by an average of almost 3200 spectators.

The Lahti team finished fourth in the regular season and will start their playoffs against KalPa on Friday at home.

– As for Friday, the cottage is already full. Next Monday is also filling up fast.

At the limits of resources

Pelicans’ CEO Lauri Pöyhönen reminds that Lahti’s organization is small and turnover is left to the bigger teams.

– At the beginning of the season, a lot of people in the public stopped us by saying that it doesn’t look good and that nothing will come of it. We have been stretched to the limit of resources, but we have believed in our own story.

Just getting to the quarterfinals brings significant money to the team’s coffers. According to Pöyhönen, we are talking about six-figure euro amounts.

Pöyhönen is satisfied that the appeal of the playoff team can be seen in the player market. There are also places to display your own crops.

– We have been able to create success through our own Juniors and growing their path. Even now, when we look at it, there are some of our own young people who have grown into the role of solvers.
