The City of Lapua decided in its meeting yesterday to support the Vanhan Pauku festival financially.

The city will give the new festival organiser MP-Viihte a grant equal to the one planned for the previous operator.

The City of Lapua will contribute 18 500 euros to the Vanhan Pauku festival. The decision was taken by the City Council yesterday.

The support will be directed to the new festival organiser MP-Viihte and will be the same amount as would have been given to the previous organiser Lapua Festivals.

The grant had not yet been paid to Lapua Festivals, so there was no loss to the city.

MP-Viihde intends to develop the event by introducing even more artists known to the whole nation to the program, however, following the usual line. This is to seek interest in the event and increase the number of customers.

The estimated budget of the event is over 100,000 euros.

The Old Pauku festival is the highlight of the year of events in Lapua, which gathers past and present residents of Lapua and the people of the province together.

The city immediately started negotiations to find a new event partner, when VPF’s previous organizer Lapua Festivals Oy announced that it was filing for voluntary bankruptcy.
