In recent weeks, tourists have spent less money than before. Trips have also been booked at shorter notice.
Still, the ski holiday weeks have been busy in both. By far the largest number of tourists came from the Helsinki Metropolitan Area in week 8.
As in previous years, the share of foreign tourists in Koli has also been low. Nevertheless, at least German, French and English have been heard in tourist information.
Increased popularity of free events
Kanninen of Koli Tourism has noticed some changes in the behaviour of tourists.
After Corona, for example, trips are booked with shorter notice. In addition, in recent weeks, less money has been spent on services than before.
– For example, people have rented equipment, but have not taken a guided tour, says Kanninen.
Keskusvaraamo Tahkocom’s Kuosmanen has also noticed a change in what travelers are interested in.
– In this economic uncertainty, the demand for free events has grown, he says.
According to Kanninen, it is noticeable that the popularity of domestic tourism after the corona virus is on the decline.
– Now we have to roll up our sleeves and start thinking about how to get foreign customers to replace domestic ones, and of course make sure that the people who fell in love with us during the corona period are brought back with as large a percentage as possible, says Kanninen.
