Kari Huhtamo, born in Rovaniemi, died on March 1 after a long illness. He was 80 years old when he died.
One of Kari Huhtamo’s most famous works is the monument to the reconstruction of Lapland in Rovaniemi, near the railway station.
The Kari Huhtamo Art Foundation has donated more than twenty of Huhtamo’s artworks to the University of Lapland. The works are part of the art walk built by the university.
Huhtamo is particularly valued as a pioneer of computer-aided sculpture.
