Mari Niskanen has worked for the last 15 years as a producer at Tampere-talo.
Niskanen has lived his childhood and youth in Kemi, where his parents still live. He says that working at the Kemi theater and moving back to his former hometown has been his dream for years.
– It is easy to come to the Kemi theater because the staff has convinced us with their exceptional willingness and guts, and has shown the staff’s strong resilience, togetherness and community spirit. It’s easy to join such a persistent, classy and skilled group that can do anything.
Niskanen’s first profession is a land surveyor. Since then, he studied at the Tampere Academy of Arts and Communication and graduated from there in 1997. In his final work, he was involved in the major production of the City of Tampere and Tampere Theater in the Youth Musical Virgo, which was an employment project for 120 young people at risk of marginalization.
The offer is being diversified
After his studies, Niskanen worked as a producer of the main program of Tampere’s Teatterikesä festival for ten years. He says that he got a solid knowledge of Finnish theaters from Pesti.
For the last 15 years, Mari Niskanen has worked as a producer at Tampere-talo. In his work, he has accumulated experience in, among other things, program planning, concept creation and ideation of hundreds of gigs and events.
Niskanen has also produced the international Tampere Beatles Happening festival for years.
– I have extensive networks, which I can also use in my work as executive director. We will diversify the offer and put the theater’s facilities into efficient use. Let’s expand the customer base and make the theater in Kemi a theater for all northern Finns, Mari Niskanen, who will start her job in April, plans.
