Local bus Linkkari line 11 runs to the airport from the city center every 40 minutes. The trial ended on February 28.

The experiment started on December 5 and ended at the end of February. The service cost the city 118,000 euros. The city got back about 20 percent in ticket revenue.

The airport bus trial of the city of Rovaniemi seems to show that there is not much demand for the service.

The experiment started on December 5 and ended at the end of February. The service cost the city 118,000 euros. The city got back about 20 percent in ticket revenue.

A local bus from the city center went to the airport every 40 minutes every day between eight in the morning and eight in the evening. There were a total of 18 flights to the airport per day.

– At least for me, this has been a disappointment for the users. Sometimes I’ve used the saying that when passengers fit into a car, then it’s not about public transport, but about something completely different.

Line required at address

The airport bus line had a minimum of 50, a maximum of 220 users per day. On average, the bus had 3.8 passengers per shift. There was no noticeable difference in the demand for the service between the time of day or the days of the week.

The experiment was started because the service was deemed necessary, and it was required, for example, with a citizen’s address.

There is also a commercial bus service to the airport. Its ticket price is 7 euros, in the linkkar it was 3.30 per adult.

The results of the experiment will now go to the Rovaniemi Community Planning Board, which will decide whether Rovaniemi should organize local transport to the airport in the future.
