Radio Suomi continues to be the most listened to radio channel in Finland – more than a third of Finns use digital audio

51 percent of Finnish radio listening comes from Yle’s channels. More and more people are listening to audio from digital services.

Yle Radio Suomi continues to be the most listened to radio channel in Finland, according to the national radio survey. Radio Suomen is 34 percent of all radio listening by Finns. The number has remained the same compared to the previous year.

The second most listened to radio channel by Finns is Radio Nova and the third is Yle Radio 1.

Last year, 4.4 million Finns listened to the radio every week. On average, the radio was listened to almost 17 hours a week. Radio was listened to on average for about two and a half hours every day.

Weekly radio still reaches about nine out of ten Finns. Half of radio listening takes place at home.

Radio listening is evenly divided between Yle and commercial radio. Yle channels were listened to by 51 percent and commercial channels by 49 percent. In 2022, there were no significant changes in listening shares compared to the previous year.

Digital audio listening is becoming more common

In addition to traditional radio devices, radio is increasingly listened to via audio services. Last year already more than a third of Finns used digital audio services.

The most used domestic audio service is Yle Areena, which had an average of 750,000 listeners every week, according to the National Radio Survey.
