Stones have been thrown from the blasting site three times. The risks have been brought under control for the time being, for example by tightening supervision and increasing the use of rubber mats on the construction site.
Excavation work on the plot planned for Fazer’s new confectionery factory in Lahti has progressed almost halfway.
The 34-hectare industrial plot is located in Pippo-Kujala next to the highway.
According to Lastika, the work has progressed on the site without any major surprises. To a small surprise, he lays down the plot of clay soil.
The city is responsible for the pre-construction of the plot in the schedule agreed in the cooperation agreement.
The stones escaping from the blasting site have been brought under control
Stones have been thrown across the highway from the blasting site of the industrial plot. For example, in January, the police in Häme said that a stone about the size of a fist flew over Nelostie through the roof of the Hartwall visitor center to the ground. No one was injured.
From the beginning of the construction site, traffic has been stopped for the duration of the blasting. Security guards have also been hired in the yards of nearby businesses to ensure that people do not move outside during the blasts.
According to Lastika, pebbles have been thrown since the end of last year a total of three times. After the incident in January, they have not happened.
– There has been a change in the blasting management of the construction site company. The city has also added more people to work site supervision. Blasting fields have been covered with more rubber mats than before, says city engineer Mika Lastikka.
Fazer is to build a new confectionery factory on the site. The company’s board is expected to make the final investment decision during the spring.
