The artist Georg Dolivo has died. He died in Helsinki on February 2 after a long illness, says Svenska Teatern in its announcement.
Born in Helsinki in 1945, Georg Dolivo was a singer, actor and cultural influencer. He was known as a former member of the entertainment quartet Kivikasvoi.
Dolivo was the artistic director of Åbo Svenska Teatern in 1984–87 and the director of Helsinki’s Svenska Teatern in 1987–1996. He also directed, sang and acted.
In 1996–2001, Dolivo headed the Helsinki Capital of Culture Foundation, and in 2001–2012 he worked as Espoo’s cultural director. Dolivo was awarded the Espoo medal in 2007.
Dolivo also served as chairman of the board of the Finnish Film Foundation twice in the 2010s.
