The jury’s task was exceptional: after the pandemic, there was a record number of domestic premieres.
The closure of cinemas due to interest rate restrictions put a damper on domestic premieres. That’s why there were a record number of them last year.
The Filmiaura jury that selects the 2022 Jussi nominees had an exceptionally big job.
No fewer than 37 feature films and 17 documentaries met the award criteria.
The board of Filmiaura, which distributes Jussit, decided last year to abandon gendered actor award categories.
They were now replaced by four different acting awards: main part, supporting part, new actor, and a spotlight on the big screen, which is given for particularly touching or entertaining acting work, which is not tied to a single role.
There are sixteen award categories in total.

The prizes will be awarded at the end of March
Jussit was awarded for the first time in 1944. It is said to be the oldest film award in Europe. In the early days, the statues traveled around, nowadays the winners get to keep theirs.
The winners are chosen by Filmiaura’s membership through a closed ballot.
In addition to the Jussie awarded by Filmaura, an honorary certificate will be awarded to the favorite film chosen by the audience. The vote is organized by Elisa Viihde.
In addition, a Nordisk Film prize worth 20,000 euros will be awarded at the Jussi gala.
The gala will be broadcast live on MTV3 channel and MTV Katsomo.
