Koli’s popularity held, even though visitor numbers to national parks declined from peak year 2021

From summer to winter and year after year, people are drawn to the national landscape of Koli on Pielise.

Lieksan Koli was visited by 251 000 people, which is only two per cent below the record figure for 2021.

Some 3.5 million people visited our country’s national parks last year.

Compared to the previous year, the so-called pandemic year, the total number of visits to national parks fell by 12%.

According to the statistics collected by Metsähallitus, the most popular were once again Pallas-Yllästunturi, Urho Kekkonen, Nuuksio and Koli National Parks.

About 251,000 people visited Lieksan Koli, which is only two percent of the 2021 record number.

Around 17,000 guests visited both Petkeljärvi and Patvinsuo. The popularity of Petkeljärvi in \u200b\u200bIlomants dropped by more than 10,000 guests from the previous year, or more than 40 percent.

Among the camping areas, Lieksa Ruunaa was second with about 64,000 visits. The most popular was Evo located in Hämeenlinna.
