Pyhäselkä summer gets a new player with a Soviet-built cruiser made famous 60 years ago
M/s Suvi-Tuulta is operated by a restaurant company in Liptov, which hires the vessel and buys the crew.
Joensuu’s summer cruise season gets a new ship when Saariston Puoti, based in Tutjunniemi, Liperi, starts summer cruises on Pyhäselkä.
The restaurant company operates the 72-seater M/s Suvi-Tulie between Joensuu and Liperi and in the Liperi archipelago.
The vessel is owned by Boko-Motors, a car repair company based in Joensuu, and the crew comes from Savonlinna.
The first cruise is to be in mid -June.
The ship is currently in Lappeenranta, where it will be moved to Joensuu next week. In the autumn of 2023, Suvi-Tuuli was storm and suffered a motor offense. Now the platform has been repaired and made and inspected before it starts to operate in Pyhäselä.
– We are intended to keep only 40 seats indoors so that cruise guests can be protected when rain suddenly.
The m/s Suvi wind is 27 meters long and five meters wide. The ship has last been on a cruise in Porvoo.
The cruiser was originally built in the Soviet Union as a subscription to the Finns in 1962.
