Children’s books on loan from libraries in high demand
Book lending by Finnish libraries grew by four per cent last year compared to the year before, according to the latest statistics on library activities.
The increase is explained by the rising borrowing rate for children’s literature. Children’s literature loans totalled 38 million last year.
Adult fiction remained at the level of the 20 million annual loan. Adult non-fiction was borrowed around 16 million times.
The borrowing of non-fiction books was slightly down, explained by a long decline in library acquisitions.
