Spanish channel interrupted the Eurovision Song Contest final and made a pro-Palestinian statement

On Saturday, Spanish television channel RTVE took a stand on Israel’s participation in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. The Spanish channel interrupted the finals, which had just begun, to make a pro-Palestinian statement.

Prior to its statement, RTVE said it had received a warning from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) regarding statements made by its commentators on Gaza in the second semi-final.
RTVE’s commentators talked about Gaza’s deaths and demanded peace in Gaza in another semifinal broadcast just before the Israeli performance.
According to RTVE, EBU threatened the broadcasting company with fines if similar comments were repeated in Saturday’s final broadcast.
