Erika Vikman was startled by a bang on stage – “There was an explosion, which was not part of it”
Vikman will represent Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest final on Saturday. “I have to win KAJ,” Vikman told Finnish journalists.
– I had promised the Finns that we would go to the final, no question. It was done.
The stakes are getting higher, Vikman admits. The final will also feature another Finnish act, the Swedish band KAJ.
– Gotta beat KAJ. That’s all that’s left.
Vikman was considered a pretty sure go to the go, and he is now ranked five in the finals of the betting agencies.
– Yes, I might be, Vikman says.
– I don’t know what happened to the betting odds, but things go all the time in the direction they wanted.
After his semifinals ‘presentation, Vikman became the fifth place in the bettors’ bettors to be the fifth most likely winning candidate in Saturday’s visa final.
Startled by a bang
Vikman says that the giant stand on which he rose so hard in the performance that he was frightened. Vikman was prepared for a spark shower, not a decent fireworks.
– There was an explosion, which wasn’t really about it. It looked pretty good, but I was scared.
Vikman says the explosion was followed by the smell of smoke.
– But everything went well, no one died.
He says he hopes that fireworks may not be needed in the finals.
