The state subsidy received by the bird sanctuary from the Ministry of the Environment decreased slightly.

The extended summer season at the Heinola Bird Sanctuary starts on Thursday 15 May.

The kennel’s quarantine facilities have been extended and for the summer the kennel will have a fenced outdoor quarantine area where more birds can be taken if necessary.

The summer season runs until 15 August. The public areas are open every day.

Ministry’s grant slightly down

This year, Heinola Bird Care received a grant from the Ministry of the Environment over EUR 83,000, which is a few thousand euros less than last year. The unit is the care of wild injured birds.

The city of Heinola is responsible for the operation of the treatment. It is also the city’s most popular tourist destination.
