Ruka wants more summer fun – that’s why it’s investing in a roller coaster
The track runs at a speed of forty kilometres per hour. During the descent, the sled makes several turns and a spiral.
Finland’s first mountain coaster, the Ruka Coaster, will open in Ruka in July and August.
A mountain railway will be built on the front slope of Ruka. The track will be almost 750 metres long and run at a speed of about 40 kilometres per hour.
The roller coaster runs above the ground on stilts and is lowered with sledges. During the descent, the track makes a dozen turns and one larger spiral higher above the ground.
The roller coaster differs from Ruka’s front slope summer sled, among other things, that it can be driven in the weather. The summer rink cannot be driven in the rain. The summer sled track runs on the surface of the earth in a metallic trough.
Originally from the Alps, the mountain roller coaster.
