More than a third of adults used public transport last year

In 2024, around 36% of people aged 16 and over would use public transport.

Around 7% used public transport daily and 15% weekly. Some 14% said they had travelled by public transport at least once a month.

This means that around 64% of Finns do not use public transport as regularly. Reasons given for not using the service included distance, inappropriate timetables and the fact that the service was not available near the place of residence.

Some also said they prefer an alternative mode of transport to public transport.

Most public transport was used in the age group of the 16-34 year olds.
