Government regulations are intended to regulate commercial fishing for salmon in the main basin of the Baltic Sea, the Archipelago Sea, the Gulf of Bothnia and the sea and river basin off the Tornionjoki River.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the proposed measures are particularly protected by large salmon, which are valuable for the increase and diversity of stocks.

The poor salmon rise has been expected to continue in the Tornionjoki this year.

The consultation round ends today on Tuesday.
