Only the Teno River is currently forecast to flood at average or slightly higher levels.

Flood peaks in Lapland’s water bodies are becoming smaller than average, says the Lapland Environment Centre. Only the Tenojoki River is currently predicted to flood above average or slightly above.

However, these estimates could still change if the weather warms up faster than forecast or if there is more rainfall than predicted.

Peak flooding in the Ivalo River is expected at the end of this week or early next week. Peak flooding on the Ounasjoki Marraskoski may also be reached by the end of this week.

In the Tornionjoki River, the flood peak will be predicted for next week. The revenue flow of Kemijärvi is also estimated to be at its peak next week.

Towards the end of May, the flood peak is expected to reach the Ounasjoki River in Könkä. According to current forecasts, the damage limit will not be exceeded in Kittilä.

At the end of May, another flood peak can be experienced in the Ivalojoki River. At the turn of May-June, a flood peak will be predicted to the Muonionjoki and the Tenojoki River and the Kemijoki River in Rovaniemi.

The large river waters of Lapland have not yet left the Ivalojoki River, the Tenojoki and the upper part of the River Muonionjoki.

At the weekend, some ice was accumulated in the Ounasjoki River Kittilä Kaukonen, which temporarily raised the water level. However, the rise was low and there was no damage, says the ELY Center.
