Seitsämämi Nature Centre has been home to a restaurant and a café. It has also hosted nature exhibitions and events.

Metsähallitus is currently looking for new owners for a total of five different nature centres. Seitseminen will remain closed until a new owner is found.

The Seitseminen Nature Centre in Ylöjärvi will remain closed this summer.

The nature centre in Seitseminen National Park was closed at the end of October when the company responsible for running the centre went out of business.

Metsähallitus, which leases the nature centre, has not sought a new owner for the space.

At the beginning of this year, Metsähallitus announced that it was looking for a new owner for a total of five different nature centers around Finland. Seven is on the list.

In 2023, around 43 600 people visited Seitseminen National Park.

New owners will also be sought for Hossa, Suomussalmi Hossa, Enontekiö’s Kilpisjärvi and Salo Teijo nature centers.

In addition, Metsähallitus owns the buildings of the Limingan Lahti Nature Center together with the municipality of Liminga and is looking for another owner.

The background is the reduction in Metsähallitus.

From 2027 onwards in the state productivity program, surgery will reduce the funding of Metsähallitus nature services by approximately EUR 4.4 million from last year’s level.

Nature services strive to get savings by giving up real estate.

The money saved from the cuts is to be used for Metsähallitus Nature Services’ core tasks of restoring state protected areas and protecting species, as well as for hiking areas throughout Finland.

– All of these progress at a different pace, but there have been no stores yet.

Doors stay closed in Seventh

The nature centers for sale are currently closed to the nature centers of Kilpisjärvi and Seven.

Since 1989, the Seven Nature Center, which has served hikers since 1989, is now empty, but with basic heat.

– Of course, it is taken care of in order to provide the next actor in a good condition. So we make sure that the value and condition of the building remain, Aarnio says.

The firepit, children’s playground, waste disposal point and toilets in the Nature Centre’s courtyard are available for normal use. The charging points for electric cars and caravan sites, which are subject to a charge, are also operating as normal. The water point is closed.

Even restaurant or café activities are not expected this year. In the seven, hikers are also served during the summer, the Kovero traditional state, to which visitors want to be directed.

According to Jouni Aarnio, discussions about the fate of the Nature Center have been good -natured. The City of Ylöjärvi and the business services are constantly being up -to -date.

Seitseminen National Park is known for its ancient forests, quiet marshes and hilly landscapes.

However, it is still too early to say when the future of the nature center will become clear.

– It all depends on how the discussions progress.

The Ministry of the Environment is also involved in discussions, as the Nature Center is located in the National Park. If the center is sold, it must be removed from the national park property.

\”And then it takes its time,\” says Aarnio.
