About ten new endangered flower habitats were found in South Savo last year
In South Savo, a few hundred heaths of the endangered kangaroo flower, which is only found in Europe. Collecting it is prohibited by law.
Cloth sedge is starting to flower in South Savo. Kangasvuok is one of the first flowers to bloom in spring.
Classified as endangered, it was protected in 1952.
Last year, the South Savo Environment Centre asked citizens to report the occurrence of kangaroo swamps. Around twenty reports of the presence of kangaroos were received.
The venues of Kangas ankle can still be reported to the ELY Center.
Collecting a showy flower prohibited
The fabric anemone is recognized by large, usually creamy white flowers, which can be up to ten centimeters in diameter.
Flowers can also be lilac red, but such deposits are known in South Savo only individual. Collecting is one of the reasons why a fabric anemone is still classified as endangered.
Another reason for threatening is the forest of the habitat habitats.
Picking up, collecting, taking or destroying a calmed plant or part of it is prohibited by law. The ban also applies to the collection of plant seeds.
The distribution of the species is focused on Southeast Finland in the Salpausselkki area and South Savo.
In Southern Savo, the fabric anemone grows in the areas of Mikkeli, Mäntyharju, Puumala, Savonlinna and Sulkava. There are hundreds of deposits known.
