Nevel acquires Labio, a biogas and compost producer in Kujala, Lahti

According to Nevel’s press release, the Labio biogas plant is the second largest in Finland.

Labio was sold by Lahti Aqua, the water company of the City of Lahti, and the municipally owned Sala District.

Energy infrastructure company Nevel has acquired Labio, a biogas and compost products company in Lahti. Nevel informs that Lahti Aqua, the water company of the City of Lahti, and Salpakierto, a waste management company owned by several municipalities, have sold their entire shares in Labio to Nevel. Lahti Aqua has owned 60% of Labio and Salpakierto 40%.

Labio’s business will be transferred to Nevel on 30 April.

Labio specialises in areas such as biowaste and sewage sludge treatment, biogas production and composting solutions. According to the press release, Labio’s biogas plant in Kujala, Lahti, is the second largest in Finland.

The company’s plant processes almost 90,000 tonnes of side currents each year and produces more than 50 gigawatt -hour biogas and 40,000 cubic meters of compost products.

Nevel already has biogas plants in Juua, Forssa and Pori.
