The boom of the employment bikes leveled off – maintenance of more expensive electric bikes brings money to bike shops
The tax advantage increased the demand for electric bikes so much that some merchants have reduced the range of traditional wheels in their movements.
Demand for employment bicycles fell in the early part of the year. Towards the end of last year, the number of employment wheels exceeded the limit of 100 thousand, but now demand has leveled off.
According to the Fashion and Sports Shop Association, the market situation seems to have normalized. For shops selling sports equipment, employment bikes have been a significant boost in the midst of a difficult economic situation.
The shops believe that sales will be more recovered towards the summer.
Most of the employment bikes are electronic assisted. About half of all wheels sold are electronic assisted. For some bike shops, electric -assisted wheels are such an important sales article that they have cleared space for traditional, electric bikes in stores.
Tax advantage attracts more expensive wheels
The tax benefit is up to EUR 1200 per year. It limits the price of the bike to be purchased. An employee can pay the amount left over from his or her own bag if he or she wants a more expensive bike.
According to the Fashion and Sports Shop representing the bike shops, more and more people are digging more on their own bag to get a more expensive and better fillar. There are already about a quarter of them acquiring an employment bike.
Employment bike maintenance also brings new cash flow to bike dealers. Many people take a maintenance service for their valuable employment bike.
– About half take the service package with leasing. It does a lot of time to keep the bike in good condition as possible, says Järvinen, a bike retailer.
