Foreign tourists increased tourism income in Finland-EUR 690 million in Lapland in December-February
Most of the tourism income was captured by Rovaniemi, EUR 389 million.
In December and February, foreign tourists left EUR 1.23 billion in Finland, reports Business Finland.
In Lapland, they left EUR 690 million in December and February. The average cash consumption per day was EUR 215.
Rovaniemi captured more than half of the tourism income, EUR 389 million. Inari foreign tourists left EUR 98 million at the same time, EUR 89 million in Kittilä and EUR 47 million in Kolari. They were the only Lappish municipalities picked for comparison.
In total, the number of tourists who came to Finland increased by seven percent compared to the previous winter. The amount of money they used increased by as much as 15 %.
Most of the travelers’ money consumption focused on accommodation, restaurants and cafes, mobility and fuel, culture, sports, leisure activities and shopping. The money spent on air and ship tickets is not included in the calculation.
Between December and February, a total of 1.24 million foreign tourists from 88 countries visited Finland.
