The turn of the year is celebrated in Lahti with an exceptional light show at the Mustankallio water tower.

The light show replaces the city’s traditional fireworks display.

On New Year’s Eve, there will be three light shows, with lights spilling from the water tower into the sky and over the city. The lasers have a range of up to eight kilometres.

The light show, which utilizes modern lighting and LED technology, consumes little energy, states the city’s press release.

A light show lasting about ten minutes is presented on New Year’s Eve at 8:00 p.m., 10:00 p.m. and midnight.

It is not recommended to go to the foot of the water tower to see the shows, but the public is expected to follow the light show from a distance.
