Anger on the beach in Raseborg.
Rita Keskitalo photographed these clumps on the shore of Lågskär Island in Raasepor on 9 March.

According to the Länsi-Uusimaa Rescue Department, the clean-up of the substance on the beaches of Hanko is in its final stages.

Grease waste found off the coast of Hanko at the beginning of the year also ended up in the Tammisaari National Park in Raasepor and on islands in the Tvärminnen area east of Hanko. This is confirmed by the Länsi-Uusimaa Rescue Service.

Yesterday, Yle reported that a reader had spotted greasy waste on the shores of Lågskär island. The site is part of the Tammisaari Archipelago National Park.

Metsähallitus now plans to map the lipid deposits more extensively in the national park. Anyone travelling in the national park area is asked to report any sightings to www.luontoon.fi/palaute.

In January, large quantities of white were on the shores of Hanko, which, according to Neste, is from the washing water of the company’s sea transport tank. According to laboratory tests, the substance is fat waste such as frying fat, animal fat and vegetable oil. Neste is committed to compensation for any damage caused by the company’s operations.

According to the Western Uusimaa Rescue Service, cleaning the substance on the beaches of Hanko is nearing completion.
