A dress rehearsal takes viewers to a sex-positive party – the director was assisted by real party-goers
The Dress Rehearsal is a comedy about a couple who decide to open up their relationship and start seeing other people.
Jane and Mickey are a middle-class couple approaching middle age in the drama comedy *Kenraal Exercise*.
What Kuustonen means is that Jane and Mickey have already found each other and started to live happily ever after. The film begins with the couple wondering if this is it.
Jane is slowly warming up to open the relationship and the experiment begins.
Real -life sex parties are often overshadowed by the curtain of mystery, the gap of which could only be peeled by the inauguration of the group themselves or by reading random stuff about the media.
Director Paula Kori made her homework on the subject by interviewing the organizers and visitors of the sex -positive event.
-Here is a role model, including the cross -art Wonderlust Helsinki event. It was held a few times before Korona, explains the ear.
Sex -positive parties are not the same as sex party, but you can enjoy an erotic atmosphere without pressure for sex.
In the ear, the sex-positive party eventually sounded an even safer situation to approach people than a basic bar night. The party always has strict rules and consent is held. There are also security officers who can be helped when needed.
In the film, the security issue also causes comic situations. Jane will be on the scene as a scared first -time \”vanilla\” and assumes that something fierce happens.
\”Surprisingly, he unintentionally breaks the boundaries of others as he tries to behave according to his prejudice,\” explains the director.
Relaxation found with the help of an intimate coordinator
Through the sex parties, the ear also received a few assistants for the film’s party scenes. They were people with experience in having sex -positive events. Some arrived in their own clothes in their own right. It was gold for a small budget movie.
Of course, there are other intimate scenes in the movie than just a party, when it comes to relationships. As is the case today, the intimate coordinator was present in the descriptions and exercises of the * general exercise *. The coordinator was also used in scenes where there was no physical intimacy.
– He helped him to create dynamics between people in a relationship or in the vicinity at all, Kuustonen says.
The more traditional relationship in the movie is represented by Jane Sister Karo and her cohabitant. They live in a wooden house with their little daughter and dream of marriage. Again, this relationship does not lack comic twists and turns.
As the sisters argue on the screen, the sparks are so naturally fluttering that it is clear that this has been practiced throughout life.
– For once! It’s funny that no one has caught this opportunity before. It was wonderful to play with a person who trusts 100 %, says Iina Kuustonen.
General of Life
Kuustonen sees the name differently. For him, Jane and Mickey live the general practice of life, such a nice life.
– I have heard people say that a person is practicing life until the forties, and only after that it really begins to live a life of his own, says Kuustonen.
* General Exercise* premiered at the prestigious Gothenburg Film Festival. Through the Danish company, the film has already been sold to several countries.
It’s a small miracle, as comedies often come across cultural differences. What makes you laugh in Finland does not necessarily exaggerate your mouth, for example in Germany or vice versa.
What about a comedy that plays with the diversity of relationships in Finland outside the big cities? For small theaters in the provinces, domestic films are particularly important.
– I hope that the film offers a peek windows with each other in the world of different relationships. It can be thought -provoking, but also entertaining, says Paula Kori.
