Non -sewers are invited to the survey – the waste authority wants to know where the sludge ends
The Lahti Region Waste Management Authority aims to gain a more detailed understanding of the need for sludge transport. The survey round starts at Kärkölä.
Non -sewers are invited to a resident survey in Kärkölä. The survey is conducted by the Lahti Region Waste Management Authority and the purpose is to find out where the waste water of the property is derived and whether the property is used for sludge tanks.
A request to respond to the questionnaire will be available during March, either by email or via SMS.
The report relates to the last fall of the Lahti Region Waste Board, according to which the transportation of the precipitation and closed sludge will be transferred to the municipalities, that is, in practice, to the reciprocating cycle. The decision has been appealed to the Administrative Court, so it is not yet final.
The change is expected to take place from the beginning of 2029, so the waste management authority says it is already starting to collect information on property wastewater treatment systems so that it can design the emptying of sludge tanks.
Real estate may have their own wastewater treatment system, the sludge from which the tank must sometimes be emptied. The use of water can also be so small that all hot water is carried and only a dry toilet is in use. However, the waste management authority has no exact information on how the processing is handled in outside the sewerage network.
In Kärkölä, there are 1,300 invitations for the survey. The survey will also be conducted in other municipalities in the Lahti Region Waste Management Authority and takes at least a year. There are over 20,000 items to be investigated throughout the area.
