MP Mika Kari pulled his name off the regional election list

SDP's Mika Kari speaks to the Lahti City Council.
Mika Kari also has significant positions of trust in his hometown of Lahti.

Mika Kari was already nominated for both spring elections, but the world situation made me consider otherwise. The triplat task has brought overlaps.

Originally, Kari was planning to be a candidate in both municipal and regional elections. He pulled his name out of the regional election candidate in the last meters.

Kari justifies his decision with world politics. According to him, the duties of the Defense Committee and the NATO delegation are increasingly demanding an overseas assignment, leaving less time for other positions of trust.

– There is a wish from Parliament that more than currently is available for foreign positions. By nature, I am a person who wants to do trust and not just to be, so I felt it was better to make more space on the calendar, says Kari.

Member of Parliament in different meetings

During this parliamentary term, Kari has also had significant positions of trust locally and regionally. He is chairman of the Päijät-Häme Regional Council and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lahti Energia.

Combining multiple positions of trust requires strict scheduling.

According to the meeting minutes, Mika Kari often comes late at the regional government meetings or leaves during the meeting.

The council’s presidency is present at board meetings. Before meetings, groups hold political negotiations.

Kari himself does not see scheduling as a problem.

– It’s good to remember that I make politics for my profession. Parliament is free on Mondays, allowing other positions of trust to perform. I have no side jobs or peak years of life.

If the meeting of the Lahti Energia Board of Directors and the meeting of the welfare area of \u200b\u200bthe welfare area have overlapped, Kari has considered the focus of which meeting, according to the agenda.

Mika Kari believes that he does not chair the council for the role of regional government meetings, but rather as a listening student.

– I do not attend political meetings before meetings in the welfare area because I represent the council or to my council group. The chairman of our council group is also the vice chairman of the council and plays a political role, explains Kari.

On the other hand, Kari has sometimes come to the meeting for a moment because he has been asked.

– Two years ago there was a case where I announced in advance that I wouldn’t just pop up for a few minutes. But I was told that it would be good that you could come when my opinion wanted to hear.

According to Kari, however, a brief pop -up at a meeting in a politician is not very unusual.

Karia is amazed that her ears have not received feedback on delays.

– Until itself, this feedback has not come during the position of the chairman of the Regional Council.

Mika Kari’s withdrawal from the list of regional elections was first reported by Etelä-Suomen Sanomat.
