Tykkimäki Holiday Village in Kouvola joins the Sokos Hotel chain
Kymen Seudun Osuuskauppa hopes that belonging to the chain will attract more international tourists in Kouvola.
Tykkimäki Resort, located in the Kouvola Käyrälampi recreation area, will become part of the Sokos hotel chain in the spring. The holiday village will become the eighth Break by Sokos Hotels.
Tykkimäki Resort is already owned by the Kymen Seudun Cooperative Society, so this is not a acquisition and does not mean, for example, new investments in accommodation in Tykkimäki.
Only name signs and logos will change in Tykkimäki.
Reservations for accommodation can be made through the Sokos Hotels website in the future. Previously, Tykkimäki Resort has been a single place to accommodation.
No expansion to the moment
Tykkimäki Resort opened in 2022. According to Mikko Virtanen, there are plans to expand the Tykkimäki resort.
\”But at the moment, new investments are not topical, and joining the chain will not bring new investments directly to the destination,\” says Virtanen.
The aim is to attract more international and domestic tourists to Tykkimäki. International guests are expected especially from Germany, the United States, Japan and China.
Tykkimäki Resort offers, for example, log house and mini cottage accommodation. It has a caravan area.
Mikko Virtanen, Director of the Tourism and Hournalism Trade at Kymen Seudun Cooperative Society, considers the proximity of the Käyrälampi recreational area as a trump card.
– I believe a lot in the curve lamp. It is one of the most important leisure destinations near the center of Kouvola and has developed it with determination, says Virtanen.
The S Group announced the change today on Tuesday. Kouvolan Sanomat was the first to report.
