What not to talk about with grandma (Mâʹst jiõm mainsteʹče ääkkain) is a YLE podcast in Coltish language by Janica Gauriloff.

Last winter, the commercial radio umbrella organisation Radiomedia ry launched a request for a preliminary assessment of Yle’s audio content. Audio content refers to podcasts, for example.

Yle can continue to provide its audio content online.

According to the decision of the Broadcasting Authority’s Administrative Board, the competitive and market impact of the audio content is limited in relation to its value to citizens. Therefore, Yle can continue to provide its audio content online. The Board also recommended that the competition and market effects should be monitored regularly.

– Yle will also continue to offer its audio content online. At the same time, however, care must be taken to ensure that Yle’s operating models do not hamper the possibilities of other operators.

No ex-ante evaluation was carried out for the live online broadcasting of Yle’s radio channels.

Yleisradio’s supervisory board started a preliminary evaluation of the contents last fall. According to the General Law, a preliminary assessment must be made of such new services and functions that may have an impact on the entirety of the content services offered. Preliminary assessments are made with the help of external experts. The company’s management does not participate in it.

As part of the preliminary assessment, an open consultation was carried out and statements were requested from, among others, the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority. There were 30 statements in total.

The supervisory board did not evaluate the live broadcasts of radio channels online.
