The weather is warming up fast – now is the time to make the most of Lahti’s sports facilities
For winter holidaymakers and other ski enthusiasts, the best slopes are to be found in and around the Sports Centre. The long-awaited ice trail on Lake Vesijärvi is also opening.
The traditional Finlandia skiing for the upcoming weekend will bring together thousands of participants on the Lahti and Hollola tracks.
All distances can be skied despite the recent changeable weather. However, changes have been made to the arrangements.
The trails have had to be repaired and bare spots to snow. The work is largely done by the work.
The organizers are waiting for about 4,000 skiers for the traditional mass skiing event tomorrow and Sunday. There were 3,600 who were registered on Friday morning.
Estonians, the United States, Swiss and Czech skiers are particularly international.
– There are groups of up to fifty skiers.
The best conditions for ski enthusiasts can be found in the Lahti Sports Center and its surroundings. The trails are maintained and repaired with storage and cannon snow.
This will also be prepared for the Salpausselkä Games in late March.
The Salpausselkä terrain has a total of 180 kilometers of charging trails, about 15 kilometers around the Sports Center.
Race tracks are available to the public, with small exceptions before the main event of the winter. There is also a first snow track nearby.
The snowfall of the last few days is only a slight help
The frostbite of recent days has especially benefited the making of cannon snow. There has also been some improved natural snow tracks, but the conditions in the terrain vary.
Some of the tracks are in good condition, but in some places the tracks are visible on the ground and the bottom of the ski may hit the sand, for example. Some skiing shares have had to be closed.
– At the moment, in Venice and Renkomäki, for example, the tracks are good at least for skating skiers, as well as in the east at the Rakokivi, says Manninen.
According to Manninen, fifteen cents would be needed for traditional skiing enthusiasts in order to make the entire Lahti area route in good shape.
The Lahti Sports Act also maintains the Vesijärvi ice route. The finishing work is ongoing and the route will officially open tomorrow Saturday. Due to the lack of snow, there is no separate walking and cycling route this year.
Information on the Lahtiskate service on the ice route,
It is a good idea to check the track map and the condition of the trails at the Lahtiski track service.
