Lahti City Council chairman quits politics
Sirkku Hildén (S&D), Chairwoman of the Lahti City Council, will not stand as a candidate in the regional and municipal elections.
– I’ve been involved for a long time, more than 20 years. These years have been full of interesting but also challenging moments. Now it’s time to move on and make room for new decision-makers,” Hildén said in the press release.
Hildén is a 48-year-old politician from Lahti, who has been a Lahti City Councillor since 2005. He has been a member of the City Council since 2008, except for a year when he served half-time as chairman of the Education Committee. He has also held a number of other positions of trust over the years.
Hildén says he does not yet know where he can put his long experience to good use.
He is still chairing the city government and as a regional councilor in the welfare area until the end of this season, May 2025.
